Progress is the Desired Outcome
On the Issues
Together, we the people must decide on how to build our future. Do we want to build on the progress of our mothers and fathers and the many diverse communities they made up? Or do we really feel like risking our basic human rights and decency for the hope of the ultra-rich giving us just enough of a trickle to survive? We all deserve more, no matter your station in society.
The threat of terrorism is real. Most of us alive today remember at least one horrific incident that struck too close to home. The length of these foreign wars has got to show us something about how to keep ourselves safe, and it is that the status quo has got to go. We must not start foreign involvements because the decision makers are motivated by corporate greed. We must be consistent in our global actions in order to ensure our country’s security. We must at least keep ISIS running from us if we remain involved, not putting them in a position to be building a despotic false state.
Developing economic opportunities is a path to wealth and security for every last citizen, not just the few who participate in social programs or who receive assistance. When a town, a county, or a whole region has a large and healthy base of tax-payers and democratically active participants, everyone is more prosperous as a result. Look at the power of technological innovation to bring us services and transform our lives. How do we benefit if most of us can’t afford the technology to begin with?
The climate keeps us safe from the horrors of space. That alone is enough to make me want to do everything in my power to safeguard our world.
Renewable energy is a known pathway to more jobs in manufacturing and construction along with many other fields. Ignoring that is succumbing to the greed of the fossil fuel industry’s most powerful beneficiaries. Gasoline and other petroleum based products are the cornerstones of our lives and if we don’t treat them accordingly then our children aren’t going to have them anymore.
We've made such progress, but as a species we are always on the verge of giving it up when the most powerful cohorts decide that what they already have is not enough.
See you later.
